The Bathroom Design Process at Von Tobel
January 19, 2024Checklist for Success: Planning Your Bathroom Remodel
January 19, 2024Are you considering a bathroom vanity update? Swapping out an old vanity for a new one can breathe fresh life into your bathroom space.
Below are some helpful items to know before meeting with our designers:
1. Measure Your Existing Vanity
Measure the height, width, and depth of your current vanity. While we can perform an on-site measurement, having your approximate measurements will expedite the selection process.
2. Decide on the Height
Consider the height you want for your new vanity (excluding the top).
34 1/2" - Adult height (similar to kitchen height)
30 1/2" - Standard height
32 1/2" - ADA height, including a 9" toe kick for added accessibility.
3. Measure to the Drain
Measure from the nearest wall to the center of the sink drain. If the drain is not aligned with the water supply, make a note of where the plumbing comes out from the wall and snap a quick picture with your phone for reference.
4. Existing Mirror Considerations
If you plan to keep your existing mirror, measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the mirror. Also, make a note if your mirror is fixed to the wall.
With these key details in hand, you'll be well prepared to discuss your bathroom vanity update with our designers. Whether it's a simple swap or a complete update, we're here to help you achieve the bathroom of your dreams.
5. Is The Existing Flooring Under Your Vanity?
If your current flooring does not extend under the current vanity, then you have two options: replace the flooring for a fresh start, or choose a new vanity with the same footprint and maintain the existing flooring. If you decide on new flooring, we have a great flooring department, too.
If your current flooring extends beneath your vanity, your vanity swap is that much easier.
A vanity swap can be your secret weapon for transforming your bathroom without embarking on a full-scale remodel. A new semi-custom vanity will breathe new life into your space while maintaining the existing charm.
Whether you choose to match your existing vanity's footprint, or opt for a fresh flooring update, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
