A Little Preparation Goes A Long Way
A few things can make your first design conversation more productive. You do not need everything finalized — these are simply helpful starting points.
Have A General Budget Range In Mind
A ballpark number is enough. Your designer can help you understand how different vanity, countertop, tile, storage, and material selections may affect your overall investment.
Make A List Of Must-Haves And Wish-List Items
Think about what your new bathroom really needs to accomplish and which features you would love to include if the space and budget allow.
Gather Inspiration
Save photos of bathrooms, vanities, tile, colors, shower ideas, storage solutions, and other details you like. Your designer can help translate those ideas into something that works in your space.
Bring Rough Measurements

Your Bathroom Design Process
From your first ideas to final selections, your Von Tobel designer will guide you through the process one step at a time.
Step One
Prep Work
Start by gathering the information that will help your designer understand your bathroom, your priorities, and the direction you would like to explore.
Rough measurements, inspiration photos, a general budget range, and your must-haves and wish-list items are all helpful starting points.
Step Two
First Design Appointment
Your first appointment is a conversation about your space, how you use your bathroom, what is not working today, and what you hope to change.
Your designer will help you begin working through details such as:
- Overall layout and space considerations
- Vanity size, style, and finish
- Storage and organization needs
- Countertop selections
- Shower and tub considerations
- Sinks, faucets, tile, flooring, hardware, and other coordinating selections
- Accessibility and long-term-use considerations
- Your general project budget and timing
Your initial measurements are a starting point. As the design develops, your designer will let you know what additional measurements or information are needed before the plan is finalized.
Step Three
Second Design Appointment
At your next appointment, you will review how the design is coming together and make adjustments based on your space, priorities, and selections.
Your designer may walk you through:

- 3D perspectives

- Countertop and coordinating material selections
- Estimated material costs
This is your opportunity to ask questions, compare options, and fine-tune the design until it feels right for your home.
Step Four
Final Review & Order
Once the design and selections are finalized, your designer will review the project with you before the order is placed.
Together, you will:
- Review the final bathroom design
- Confirm vanity styles, finishes, and selections
- Review countertop and coordinating material selections
- Review the bill of materials
- Review final material selections and pricing
- Complete the necessary approvals and order paperwork
