Von Tobel’s journey began over a century ago and continues today with a strong commitment to quality, service, and local partnerships. Our roots run deep in Indiana—and so does our passion for helping build better homes, businesses, and communities.
Key Milestones in Our History

1905 – Von Tobel began operations in Francesville, IN.

1959 – Expanded services to Lafayette, IN, marking the beginning of regional growth.

1965 – Continued growth with the opening of our Valparaiso, IN location.

1980 – Acquired Warehouse Carpets in Valparaiso, enhancing our flooring expertise.

1987 – Launched the Michigan City, IN store, expanding service reach across northern Indiana.

1996 – Opened our Schererville, IN store, broadening our customer base even further.

1999 – The Von Tobel family sold 30% of the company to employees and established the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

2002 – Transitioned to a 100% employee-owned company, solidifying our dedication to shared success.
