Hardened Wood Flooring – A New Category of Flooring
February 28, 2024Quartz Versus Granite: What’s The Difference?
June 21, 2024Congratulations on your new quartz countertop!
To maintain the pristine condition of your new countertop, follow these care and maintenance tips.
Daily Cleaning
Routine Cleaning: Use a soft sponge or dishcloth with warm water for everyday cleaning.
Dealing with Grease & Stubborn Stains:
-
Use a pH-neutral liquid cleaner (e.g., Mr. Clean, 409, Simple Green, Fantastic) or ordinary dishwasher detergent (like Palmolive) mixed with warm water. Apply with a soft sponge or dishcloth.
Tackling Persistent Stains
-
Gentle Abrasives: For persistent stains, use gentle abrasive cleaners like Bon Ami, Barkeepers Friend, or Soft Scrub (without bleach). Apply the cleaner first to a wet sponge or dishcloth, then to the countertop.
-
Note: Overuse of abrasive non-chemical cleaners can dull the quartz surface.
Sanitizing Your Countertops
-
Disinfecting Your Countertop: Use a 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol solution or Lysol Disinfectant spray for sanitizing the surface.
What to Avoid
-
Avoid Harsh Scrubbing Tools: Do not use sponges with aluminum oxide, as it can dull the finish.
-
Chemical Precautions: Keep your quartz countertop away from drain cleaners, paint strippers, acetone, and products containing hydrofluoric acid, ammonia, methylene chloride, trichloroethylene, or extreme pH levels. Exposure to such chemicals may etch or discolor the surface.
Sealing Not Required
-
No Need for Sealant: Quartz is non-porous, so sealers will not penetrate the surface. Avoid sealing as it might lead to uneven wear in high-use areas, causing inconsistent polish appearance.
Heat Resistance & Precautions
-
Protecting from Heat: Quartz is scorch resistant, but always use a trivet or hot pad between the countertop and any hot devices (crock pots, deep fryers, hot pots, pans, or electric skillets).
-
Avoid sudden or rapid temperature changes or sustained heating, especially near edges and cutouts, to prevent thermal expansion damage. Note that such damage is not covered under the quartz warranty.
