Countertop Comparison Chart
When it comes to countertops, material matters, and not all stone is created equal.
In fact, some of the best countertop options aren’t even stone at all!
Quartz
Quartz is a man-made product typically made from a mixture of 93% natural quartz and 7% resin binders and pigments.
It’s design mimics the consistent, natural look of marble, but without the maintenance.
Quartz is non-porous, so it does not allow bacteria or stains to penetrate the surface.
It is heat, scratch and stain resistant. However, very high heat can cause permanent discoloration, white spots and damage to the surfaces.
Cleaning should be done with a mild soap and soft cloth or glass cleaner for tougher stains.
Popular Brands We Supply: Caesarstone, MSI, Vicostone, Silestone, Corian, Cambria

Granite
Granite is a natural product known for its beautiful range of colors and patterns.
No two slabs are identical, giving you a unique design though the natural patterns tend to be busy. Polished granite will have a glossy look to it.
Because it is naturally porous, granite must be sealed annually to prevent bacteria and stains from penetrating the surface. Installed granite will have seams and under mounted sinks are most commonly used.
Granite is heat, scratch and stain resistant when sealed.
Avoid using harsh chemicals and opt for a mild detergent and a soft cloth for cleaning granite countertops.
Preferred Program for Granite
For homeowners interested in granite countertops, we offer access to an exclusive Granite Preferred Program for 13 granite colors.
Our partnership with suppliers gives you access to:

Cultured Marble
Cultured marble is made from natural marble dust mixed with polyester resin.
The result is a highly durable, non-porous, stain resistant material. However, it is prone to chipping, scratching and can be damaged by excessive heat.
It does not need to be sealed, and cleaning is simple with a gentle cleanser.
Cultured marble has gained popularity as a top choice for bathroom countertops, tubs, and showers.
Popular Brands We Supply: Onyx, Oasis, Carstin
Butcher Block
Naturally beautiful and durable, butcher block countertops bring a rustic, homey feel to a kitchen.
Butcher block countertops are usually made from strips of wood glued together. The wood can come from a variety of sources such as cherry, maple, oak and walnut.
Butcher block can warp and hold stains. It must be sealed as soon as it is installed and resealed and treated regularly.
Clean with soap and water or try vinegar to clean and disinfect.
Solid Surface
Solid surface is made from minerals and acrylic resins.
Available in countless colors, this is one of the more popular countertops for high-traffic kitchens. Solid surface can also be molded to accommodate unusual shapes, larger sinks, and is installed with no seams.
The non-porous surface prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the material. Marks and stains stay on the surface and can easily be removed with a Scotchbrite® pad and household cleaner.
Popular Brands We Supply: Corian, Meganite
Laminate
Laminate is a synthetically manufactured particle board sub-core with a thin laminate sheet on top.
It’s the most economical countertop option and is available in many colors and styles.
It’s a great option for medium-traffic kitchens since it’s designed to withstand damage and rarely scratches or dents. Laminate is moderately stain resistant, although stains should be cleaned quickly. They are also low-maintenance and easy to clean.
Homeowners should be aware that laminate can stain, scratch, and damage especially depending on standard versus premium laminate. It also depends on how one uses the surface, the color, and the quality of the laminate.
Keep in mind that only drop-in sinks can be used with laminate.
Popular Brands We Supply: Formica, Pionite, Wilsonart
Dekton
Dekton is a mixture of minerals processed through proprietary TSP technology.
The result is an ultra compact, durable surface.
It is heat, scratch and stain resistant. Dekton has gained popularity as an outdoor application and is the only countertop available as slim as 4mm.
