Cherry & Gray Kitchen

Kitchen Showroom Spotlight

Our unique kitchen display at our Michigan City showroom shows how cherry wood can deliver two completely different looks through finish choices.

Gray-stained cherry wall cabinets pair with natural cherry base cabinets to create a sophisticated two-tone kitchen that’s both bold and warm.

Combined with a flowing quartz countertop and smart storage solutions like a CoreGuard sink base and hidden footstool cabinet, this display proves that thoughtful design details transform a kitchen into something truly special.

One Wood, Two Stunning Finishes

This kitchen showcases the versatility of cherry wood and the impact of finish selection.

The gray stain on top creates a contemporary, cool tone while the natural cherry below brings out the wood’s signature warmth and character.

Together, they create a balanced two-tone look that feels intentional rather than trendy.

Gray Stained Cherry Wall Cabinets

The Decora wall cabinets in Cabana finish feature cherry wood stained in a cool gray tone.

Cherry has a distinctive curly grain pattern that almost looks like rolling smoke when stained.

The semi-transparent gray stain works into the natural grain to highlight the wood’s character while delivering a contemporary color that feels fresh and current.

It’s a beautiful example of how staining (rather than painting) lets the wood’s personality shine through.

A pair of light-colored wooden kitchen cabinet doors with black round knobs, set above a beige subway tile backsplash, adds warmth to this cherry gray Kitchen. The edge of a hexagonal tile pattern is visible on the right side.

Natural Cherry Base Cabinets with Glaze

The KraftMaid base cabinets feature the same cherry wood in a natural finish with a glaze applied on top.

The glaze creates a slightly darker, richer look than a pure natural cherry, adding depth and dimension.

Cherry wood is known for warming and deepening in color over time, so these cabinets will continue to develop character as they age.

The glazed natural finish lets the cherry’s signature reddish-brown tones show beautifully.

Quartz Countertop

The countertop is Vadara Cygnet, a quartz with a white background and gray and cream tones that flow across the surface like rolling smoke.
This choices echoes the grain pattern in the gray-stained cherry cabinets above.

This visual connection between the countertop and cabinets ties the entire kitchen together.

Quartz is also one of the most durable and low-maintenance countertop options available, perfect for busy kitchens.

A white marble countertop with cherry gray veining, rounded edges, and a glossy finish sits atop a light brown cabinet, adding elegance to the Kitchen beside a carpeted floor with a geometric pattern.

Handmade Subway Tile Backsplash

The backsplash features subway tile with a handmade look.

Unlike standard machine-made subway tile with perfectly flat surfaces, these tiles have slight variations and texture that add character.

Each piece is a little different, giving the backsplash an artisan quality that feels collected rather than mass-produced.

Glossy, rectangular cherry gray subway tiles are arranged in a staggered brick pattern on a wall above a white marble countertop with gray veining, adding a modern touch to the kitchen with their reflective surface and subtle light variations.

Penny Tile Accent with Copper and Metal

A penny tile accent breaks up the subway tile with a touch of glam.

The hex-shaped tiles feature copper, striated glass, and metal elements that sparkle and catch the light.

It’s a small detail with big impact, adding visual interest and a hint of metallic shine that complements the chrome hardware throughout the kitchen.

CoreGuard Sink Base

The CoreGuard sink base is one of those features you don’t appreciate until you need it.

The cabinet has a plastic interior box with the wood front you see from the outside.

If your sink ever leaks, the plastic interior won’t warp, swell, or develop mold like traditional wood would.

You can store cleaning supplies, soaps, and chemicals without worry.

If a spill happens, just wipe it down. It’s a hidden upgrade that protects your investment.

Double Trash Pullout

The KraftMaid double trash pullout fits two square trash cans that drop into a hanging base for a more streamlined fit.

Square cans actually hold more volume per inch than rectangular ones, giving you more trash capacity in the same cabinet space.

The soft-close mechanism ensures quiet operation.

Roll Trays with Cutout Finger Pulls

The KraftMaid roll trays feature cutout finger pulls that make opening and pulling out the trays effortless.

No knobs or handles to add, just a simple cutout that lets you grip and pull.

Soft-close mechanisms ensure the trays glide quietly back into place. It’s a small detail that improves the daily user experience.

6-Inch Tray Divider Cabinet

This kitchen turns that awkward 6-inch space at the end of a cabinet run into useful storage with a tray divider cabinet.

ookie sheets, cutting boards, and baking pans store upright instead of getting stacked in a larger cabinet where things shift around.

One thing worth noting: the door on a 6-inch cabinet is a slab front rather than the five-piece construction you see on wider doors, simply because there’s not enough room for the traditional frame and panel.

Lazy Susan with Chrome Edge

The corner cabinet features a lazy Susan with a chrome edge upgrade for added stability.

The chrome edge prevents items from tipping or sliding off as the shelves rotate.

Each shelf spins independently rather than being attached to a central post, so you don’t have to worry about everything cascading off the back when you turn it.

It’s a smarter, more reliable corner solution than older lazy Susan designs.

Hidden Footstool Cabinet

This is one of the cleverest features in the kitchen.

A 6-inch cabinet that looks like standard storage actually contains a hidden footstool.

The stool pops out when you need it, helps you reach top shelves, and tucks neatly back inside when you’re done.

No more hunting for a stool in another room or risking a fall by climbing on a chair.

A small folding step ladder is positioned near a cherry gray kitchen cabinet and a stainless steel appliance on a carpeted floor. The cabinet door appears to be damaged and misaligned.

Diagonal Cutlery Divider

The diagonal cutlery divider accommodates longer utensils that don’t fit in standard silverware organizers.

Barbecue tools, large spatulas, and oversized serving utensils all have a designated spot.

Diagonal placement maximizes drawer space while keeping everything organized and visible.

A cherry gray Kitchen drawer with diagonal compartments for organizing utensils is pulled open beneath a white countertop, with a grey patterned floor visible below.
