Why Composite Deck Boards?
Most composite deck boards are made using a co-extrusion process. Raw materials like sawdust, wood chips, and wood fibers are combined with HDPE plastic and then placed in an extruder. The mixture is melted and forced through a die to make it resemble wood lumber. The final product looks remarkably like genuine wood in many ways.
Composite decking has many advantages over treated lumber:
- It stands up well to harsh weather without warping or other damage
- It doesn’t need painting or periodic replacement
- It doesn’t rot and is resistant to mold growth due to moisture
- boast some of the best warranties in the business
What Makes MoistureShield™ So Unique?
Wondering what makes MoistureShield™ composite deck boards stand apart from even the best of the best in traditional composite wood decking?
The answer is both straightforward and complex. It’s simple because the manufacturer goes out of the way to integrate the latest structural innovations, such as MoistureShield’s solid and encapsulated core. The material is virtually water-tight and can be installed in the ground, even underwater.
Yet it’s made from 95% recycled content, which earns them a big “thank you” from us!
The complexity comes into the picture because of the tremendous amount of materials research, testing, retesting, and patenting that made this extraordinary product what it is.
Capped Wood Composite Decking
MoistureShield Elevate™ composite decking is their introductory capped wood composite board. It’s shielded with a strong, protective barrier to help prevent damage from impact, corrosion, and weathering in virtually any environment.
It includes MoistureShield’s proprietary Solid Core for zero structural field failures on the ground, in the ground or underwater.
Elevate your outdoor living space, and select from our two in-stock color choices Riverbank or Alpine Gray. Additional colors may be available for special order, just ask your Von Tobel salesperson.
