The Rustic Hickory Island

Kitchen Showroom Spotlight

This is our KraftMaid Rustic Hickory island display, one of our most popular showroom displays.

Natural Beauty, Organized Storage

Every piece of hickory tells its own story with visible knots, mineral streaks, and grain variation that you simply can’t replicate with stain or paint.

From polymer knife straws that protect blade edges to adjustable drawer dividers that organize baking supplies, every storage detail is designed to keep your tools accessible, organized, and protected.

Natural Rustic Hickory

Rustic Hickory is hickory wood in its most authentic form. You get all the natural characteristics the wood offers: knots, mineral streaks, color variation, and dramatic grain patterns.

No two doors look exactly alike, which is exactly the point. This is wood that celebrates its imperfections and brings genuine warmth and character to your kitchen.

If you love the look of real wood with personality, Rustic Hickory delivers.

Knife Block Pullout with Polymer Straws

The knife storage pullout is thoughtfully designed with three distinct zones.

  • On the side, there’s space for cutting boards.
  • Towards the front, polymer knife straws hold your knives securely and protect the blades. The polymer straws are the key feature here: unlike traditional wood knife blocks that actually dull your blades as you slide knives in and out, these polymer straws keep edges sharp. It’s why professional chefs prefer this storage method.
  • At the back, a removable stainless steel utensil bin stores spatulas, tongs, and other cooking tools.

Deep Drawer Base with Adjustable Dividers

One of the deep drawer bases features adjustable dividers with multiple slot positions, letting you customize the layout for your specific needs.

Store casserole dishes vertically so you can see and grab what you need without unstacking. Organize muffin tins, baking pans, or even those plastic food storage containers that always seem to multiply.

The two shallow drawers above are perfect for baking tools like rolling pins, measuring cups, cookie cutters, and pastry brushes.

Everything has a designated spot, and nothing gets buried in the back of a cabinet.

Deep Drawer Base Without Dividers

The second deep drawer base has no dividers at all, giving you one large, deep storage space with complete flexibility.

Use it for pots, mixing bowls, small appliances, or anything else that doesn’t fit neatly into divided sections.

Having both options in the same island shows you the versatility: some items need organization, others just need space.

Chrome Tray Divider Pullout

The narrow tray divider cabinet features chrome dividers that keep cookie sheets and cutting boards upright and organized.

This particular cabinet isn’t quite wide enough for muffin tins, but it holds plenty of baking sheets and boards without them sliding around or stacking awkwardly.

Pull it out, grab what you need, and everything else stays in place.

18-Inch-Deep Back Cabinets

The back side of the island features 18-inch-deep full-height door cabinets that provide serious bonus storage.

In an open-concept kitchen where the back of your island is visible from the living area, this gives you functional storage accessible from the seating side.

Store serving pieces, extra dishes, table linens, or anything you want out of the main kitchen workspace but still within reach.

Decorative Column Leg Detail

At the end of the island, a dishwasher end panel is combined with outside corner molding to create a decorative column leg.

It’s a design detail that makes the island feel more like furniture than standard cabinetry.

The column adds visual weight and a finished look that elevates the entire piece.

MSI Perla White® Quartz Countertop

The countertop is MSI quartz in Perla White® with a clean quarter-round edge on top.

The overhang is deep enough that you can slide bar stools almost completely underneath, which eliminates the tripping hazard that stools often create when they stick out too far.

It’s a practical detail that makes the island safer and easier to move around, especially in a busy kitchen.
